Fire/Security Upgrades (FSU) Permit
A stand-alone building permit for replacing or altering life-safety systems such as sprinklers, fire alarms or electromagnetic locking devices.
You need it when: You replace or alter a building's life-safety systems (sprinklers, fire alarm, maglocks) with no other construction.
Why it's needed
- Life-safety system changes need a building permit. Where other construction is proposed, they can be included in that building permit instead.
When to apply
- Only where there is no other construction proposed, or the FSU design cannot meet the schedule of the building mechanical permit.
Review time
Plan for about 10 business days.
